Meet The PMA Team
The practice of Law runs in Ms. Palecek’s blood. You could say that she has been involved with law since she was in grade school and she wasn’t the only one who was affected. Her cousin Tom Palecek is a Business and Real Estate attorney and partner of Williams & Palecek Law Group. As the daughter of local practicing attorney of forty plus years, Jim Palecek, Genna would go after school and help do research for her father’s cases and assist with other office work.
Ms. Palecek received her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law and Bachelors degree from University of California at San Diego in Human Development. While at CWSL she earned the American Jurisprudence Award (highest grade in class) in Business Planning, was a member of the Dean’s List, and graduated in the top third of her class. In addition, she has written two scholarly reviews in the area of business law. The first review is in the area of wine law titled; “Intellectual Property Issues in the Wine Industry: The lack of a private cause of action under current international agreements creates ineffective means of relief for intellectual property infringement.” The second is a review of the interplay of real property law, revenue code and securities regulation titled; “Tenant In Common Interests: The Inadequacies of Securities Regulation and Revenue Code to Protect Investors.”
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Recently Ms. Palecek was awarded Best of Bar 2016 by the San Diego Business Journal. She attributes it to her continued education in her field. As a managing partner of her firm she is committed to continuing legal education and has completed 100 hours to make sure she is aware of any new thought processes and legal paradigms in her field. She believes that continued legal education and growth are the foundations of success in the practice of law.
In February 2011 Ms. Palecek and Mrs. Morrison founded their practice, Palecek Morrison and Associates LLP. Ms. Palecek concentrates her practice on estate planning, real estate and corporate transactional matters. In this pursuit, she represents small business owners, information technology firms, real estate professionals, and individuals with their elder care and estate planning needs. Ms. Palecek also regularly engages in speaking presentations regarding estate planning to better education the clients of her financial industry and accounting colleagues.
In assisting her clients, Ms. Palecek has extensive experience in drafting comprehensive estate plans, utilizing complex trust planning provisions such as revocable living trusts, marital deduction trusts, bypass trusts, life insurance trusts, charitable remainder trusts, mixed pot family trusts, and special needs trusts. She is skilled in drafting durable financial and medical powers of attorneys, advance health care directives, and all types of wills. She has also counseled clients on sensitive family issues relating to guardianship and conservatorships.
Ms. Palecek is also a Broker and highly experienced in the transactional areas of real estate, land use, and construction law. Prior to entering the legal field Ms. Palecek owned and operated a real estate sales, development, and mortgage company in San Diego for six years. Ms. Palecek has over fifteen years of experience in the real estate industry which is an invaluable asset to her real estate and business clients’ needs. During the course of her real estate career Ms. Palecek negotiated broker relations with over 20 major lending institutions and brokered over 25 million dollars in residential and commercial loans, as well as purchase contracts. Ms. Palecek also assisted in the design build of a 38-unit PUD project in which she dealt with the real estate acquisition for the project, land use regulations, and construction issues. She has experience dealing with construction teams, architects, and zoning authorities in all aspects of the design build process.
As a long time small business owner and manager, Ms. Palecek knows firsthand the legal questions and issues small business’ face. It is this comprehensive understanding of business owner’s goals and concerns which allow Ms. Palecek to best advise her clients on an expansive scope of matters - including operations management, contract negotiation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial financing, private equity, and venture capital financing, as well as real property purchases and commercial leases.

PERSONAL ACTIVITIES
Ms. Palecek is a San Diego native and enjoys spending time with her husband, her newborn son, large extended family, her two standard poodles, and is committed to staying mentally and physically fit through yoga and is an avid horseback rider.
